Happy New Year

It's snowing today but yesterday was surprisingly mild and almost warm.  I have taken the plastic sheet off the raised bed as the wind keeps ripping it off and crushing the veg underneath. It's not quite big enough really and as soon as the weather fairs up a bit I will replace it with the UV stable sheet that Tony bought me for Christmas. We gardeners are really easy folk to buy for.. A ball of string, packet of seeds or some plant markers and we are in our own little happy world. I'm amazed at just how much I have forgotten about gardening since I had my allotment nearly thirty years ago. Thankfully You Tube has some amazing gardeners willing to share their skills and knowledge.

A few days before Christmas I cut down a huge overgrown swathe of plants in the front garden. It's a fairly well contained flower bed and will be perfect for veg growing as it's lovely and sunny for a good part of the day. I have many plans for that border this year. It's hard holding off sowing seeds right now but it's absolutely pointless until at least early Feb as it's usually far too cold and wet until then.
