It's surprisingly warm

It's hard to believe that it's past the middle of October as it's really warm outside.  I'm hoping that I get a couple more courgettes before the really cold weather arrives from the north this coming week. The veg garden is looking really healthy and productive and I am pleased at just how many radish pods I still have to harvest. The golden purslane is still producing tender shoots though it is starting to produce seeds heads so I might have to cut them down in the next day or two.

I've been given two more tubs of reindeer poo but have nowhere to put it just yet. As  soon as the courgettes are finished I will clear a space and mulch the area with a mix of the poo and some well rotted compost.  I want to change the layout of part of the garden and am currently searching for the best place to buy scaffolding boards so that I can make more raised beds. It will be a better and more productive use of the available space. We are hoping that the cold will bring down a load of leaves from the local trees as we  filled ten bin liners last year and left them to decompose in the bags.  I mulched some of the garden with partially rotted leaves earlier this year and the increased amount of worm activity has been incredible.

  1. Well, it's starting to feel a little bit Christmassy with all this Reindeer Poo ;)
