The kindness of strangers

I want to say a huge thank you to Steve for his gift of two cuttings from his Perennial kale.  Some people are so kind and Steve has been amazing sharing his wealth of growing veg knowledge.

(11) Steve's Seaside Kitchen Garden & Allotment - YouTube

I've planted them in my potato tub under the pergola where they will be protected from the worst of the weather. As soon as they are well rooted I'll put them out into the garden

I was delighted to see that the Florence fennel that I sowed last week has begun to sprout.  It hasn't been mollycoddled at all. I simply sowed the seed and popped the tray into the mini greenhouse under the pergola.  It's very warm and sheltered but I don't imagine it stays particularly warm through the night. It will stay in the greenhouse until late May and then I will put it out into one of the raised beds. My bedroom windowsill is full of veggie seeds at the moment and I'm looking forward to watching them sprout and grow.

  1. I too like having all my newest seedlings in the bedroom so I can sweetly sing (or croak)goodnight and good morning to them. How kind of Steve. I'm trying to encourage my brother to go for some perennial veg on his new allotment. Lulu x

    1. I want to research more about perennial veg. I could do with planting some in the garden.
