Veggies for tea tonight

I've just had a wander around the garden collecting the veggies for tonight's meal. I picked a small swede as it was getting a bit crowded but would have left it to grow on if it hadn't been.I discovered that the swede leaves  and stalks are nothing like the purple top turnip leaves and stalks.  Swede leaves are yuck but the purple top leaves and stalks are lovely both cooked and raw in salad.

Purple sprouting brocolli, baby carrots, peas, Tuscan kale
courgettes and sprout leaves,

The little melon that I'm growing in my porch has turned yellow. It's not very big and I'll need to find out how to tell if it's ripe... any suggestions welcome.

  1. Gosh, what a question. In the shop I press down at the tip and also rap it to see if it sounds hollow. I don't know if that applies to melons on the plant though.

  2. Me again. I Googled and, assuming it's a honeydew melon, here's a link that might help. https://happyhappyvegan.com/honeydew-melon-ripe/

  3. Smell it, knock on it. If it talks back it is ready to go! :) x
