All change

After a lot of humming and hawing we decided that we just couldn't justify making the frogs and newts homeless.  We decided to move the pond over by about three feet to give me a another space for growing veggies. I wasn't planning on planting anything in it until next spring but discovered three rainbow chard in a bowl.. I had dug them out a few weeks ago and intended to put them on the compost heap. They haven't been watered or looked after at all and the poor little things have pushed out vivid coloured shoots. I didn't have the heart to compost them so I tucked them into the new veg plot to see whether they come to anything. Nothing ventured nothing gained.  I've been fighting a losing battle with cabbage white butterflies so have been picking big fat caterpillars off the brassicas and feeding them to the fish.

I will be digging all the plants out from the left hand side of the new plot just as soon as they start to die back.  Some of them will be transplanted to other areas in the garden but some will be going in the compost bin.

If you look very closely you can see the rainbow chard.

Tony has been busy making me a cold frame and I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with it.

  1. Hi Cherie
I have not a clue how I found you.
Love your new cold frame, you will be using it a lot this year.

I have a small YouTube Channel called Robs Allotment Plot, maybe if you get time you might pop over and have a look at how I do things.

    Take Care

    1. Hi Rob.Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. I've had a look and there are a few Robs allotments so Tony and I weren't sure which one is yours.

  2. That Tony is a busy beaver, as are you Cherie! Now that is the best white cabbage caterpillar disposal technique I have heard of :0 :) :) Fingers crossed for the chard. Lulu xXx
