Ages ago I bought a small bunch of supermarket spring onions and planted them in the garden. I think I expected them to divide and become clumps but look at what I have just harvested. I know nothing about growing spring onions but these look more like leeks to me. No matter what they are we will use them and I cut big seed heads off them the other week. They are shedding seeds all over the windowsill so I intend to plant some of them and see what will happen. If they really are spring onions and taste okay I will leave my spring onions in the ground a lot longer and treat them like leeks. I'd appreciate your thoughts though.

Right at the top they look like giant spring onions - I've seen them in the shops. Leeks don't divide like that, I think.
