Blimey, that's huge

I've been looking at 'My family garden' videos on you tube. Oh my goodness look at the size of this bottle gourd. Mothin has made a cookery video that shows how to cook a different variety of gourd with prawns and it's well worth a look.  I love watching his videos as they are always so straightforward and clear. Please give him a like if you go take a look. It will help his channel grow and encourage him to make more videos. I love that he didn't use a whole cupboard full of spices that I have never even heard of. I have every single thing he mentioned in my cupboard so I am going to give it a try using my courgettes to see how it tastes.

Another couple of bottle gourds picked today #shorts - YouTube

And last night Tony finished yet another large planter for me.  He's made a couple of shelves at the back too for me to put the bottles when I start my winter sowing as I plan to do a bit more of that this year. I filled this with my own home made compost and a big tub of reindeer poo that a friend brought me... I have the loveliest friends. I lined the planter with a sheet of polythene to help preserve it.

Shelf along the back for the winter sowing bottles

I will be able to store spare plant pots on the very bottom shelf as Tony made two shelves for me.

Red and green Kohlrabi

This morning I interplanted a load of spring onion seeds into the spaces between the kohlrabi..  We will use them to cook with all through the winter. I've been sowing spring onions in every bit of spare space as we love to put onion in virtually everything.

  2. That is pretty nifty and no bending...honestly my back is getting tired of pulling weeds and crawling around trying to find everything! I will be interested in the winter planting. Sandi
