More planting spaces

We've finished the green planter and it's now been planted up with some autumn/winter veg seedlings that were desperate to get out of the pots.

This afternoon I cut all the peas down and we are going to have the last of them for tea tonight with a gorgeous fresh cabbage and some runner beans. I pulled some tiny little turnips and cut a few celery stalks to go into a chicken casserole with the usual garlic and onions. I'm going to stir fry the cabbage in some butter and I'll add a swirl of cream to it once it's all cooked.

I was chuffed to bits to see that the Florence fennel that I sowed last week has all sprouted.  It'll be going into the garden as soon as a space becomes available.  The sweetcorn looks almost ready to harvest and the kohlrabi seedlings are coming along brilliantly. I dehydrated a load of courgettes the other day and will be doing that each time I get a glut. They'll be great added to soups and stews in the winter months.

  1. Here in the Midwest, we know sweetcorn is ready in the garden the day after the raccoons rip it down...LOL. Your veggies, sound nummy! Sandi

    1. Thank goodness we don't have raccoons. The grey squirrel is a darn nuisance though.
