Busy day in the garden

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous today. Perfect weather for gardening and after a bit of a baking session this morning I spent the whole afternoon pottering on in the garden.  I've cut down the runner beans and some more sweet peas. Planted a couple of potatoes that are producing babies...It would have been a shame to throw them out.

Then I emptied part of one of my raised beds and removed all the weeds.  I've moved the chimney pot onto the end of the raised bed and filled it up with partially rotted household waste.  Tony and I will add to it and let the wonderful worms do their thing. I placed a thick layer of newspaper over the plot to suppress any weeds and topped it off with a tub of reindeer poo. I want leave it till the spring so tomorrow I will put some weed supressing membrane on it. My intention is to gradually take everything out of the raised bed and plant it up with a bit more thought to detail next year.

I was absolutely delighted to see tiny, baby, yellow courgettes on the plants that I transplanted only a couple of weeks ago.  My green ones are still producing too so hopefully we will be eating them fresh for a few more weeks.
I've just taken this photo so you can see how it's all looking right at this very minute. There's plenty of colour and it brings me so much pleasure.
