I got up this morning to discover that my Jerusalem artichoke had disappeared... In fact I discovered later on that it had snapped in half and disappeared over the wall. It's such a shame as we have watched it grow and grow. It must have been close on ten feet tall and we had high hopes of seeing it flower. It was the only one I hadn't topped as I thought the holly tree was giving it plenty of support. I suppose that given the wind through the night it was inevitable. I was expecting it to be wet when I went for my walk but the rain came later... and oh boy did it hammer down. Then in true British style it all dried up leaving a gorgeous afternoon for gardening. I've cut down more sweet peas and removed the support. Then I moved my obelisk into the sweet pea spot as I hope to grow French beans up it next year. I've transplanted spring onions into the water butt raised beds and moved all manner of tubs and boxes around the garden. I'm sure that I have muscles like Popeye :-)
