I've made a huge batch of bone broth today and then set a second batch to simmer. I used some of the broth when I cooked a sausage casserole for tea and it was lovely to be able to use garlic from my store and fresh picked carrots. These little round ones are so sweet and tasty that I'm surprised that they even got into the casserole. It was such a treat picking them, shaking the earth from them then a quick rinse and trim then into the casserole

I'll serve the casserole with a spicy vegetable rice and we'll have strawberries and cream for desert. The strawberries aren't from the garden but with a bit of luck I will be able to freeze some from the garden next year. The raspberries are pushing up new canes so we are hoping for a decent crop next year. I intend to plant a few more raspberries and blueberries and I quite like the idea of a grape vine trailing along the fence and under the pergola. I'll need to do a bit of research and find a nice variety that will suit our climate.
Some fantastic plans there and the carrots look gorgeous.
