An hour in the garden

It's pleasantly warm today so Tony and I spent a lovely hour in the garden this morning just pottering on and tidying up. The fence is down between us and our neighbour and I really would prefer to put a golden privet in as it will lighten up that side no end. It will take a few years to establish but will be well worth it in the long run. The baby hedge to the left hand side of our garden is coming along a treat and it always looks as though the sun is shining on it. I'm so pleased that I opted for a golden variegated hedge.

In the bed below I have put a row of dwarf tulips just to add a splash of colour early  next year. I am planning on adding a few more flowers around the garden as I love to see it looking colourful.

Lettuce, beetroot, onions, garlic and spring onions are coming along nicely

Doesn't that golden hedge on the left hand side look pretty. It always looks as though the sun is shining on it.

  1. Your golden privet is very sunny and lovely. It really sets off the purply calabrese foliage! x

  2. I always have a fondness for Golden Privet, something about the way its fresh, new leaves catch the light. I have an old and basically knackered Green Privet hedge along side one length of the garden with far too much of that Snowberry shrub hampering its growth but it'll improve with time and regular maintenance m'thinks.
Have you consider Sea Buckthorn as a hedging plant?

    1. Sea Buckthorn is too spiky for me though I bet the berries would come in handy. We took out a huge Pyracantha hedge a few years ago. It was a nightmare to trim
