The veg plot today

I'll be glad to shake off this flipping  C virus ASAP as I've just taken a short walk around the veg garden and exhausted myself. I'd hoped to make a start on some seed sowing but that won't be happening until I feel better.  No worries though as it's definitely a bit too early to think about growing much yet. There's still plenty to eat out there and it will come in very handy over the next few months.

The viola make pretty sprinkles for salads

I've got Steve at Steve's Seaside Kitchen Garden & Allotment - YouTube  to thank for introducing me to Kalettes. I'd never even heard of them until this past year and they really are productive and tasty. Likewise sprout leaves... Thanks Steve you're a gem.

Look at the pretty purple sprouting broccoli. It looks incredibly healthy doesn't it.

This tub is full of spring flowering bulbs but I chucked a few spare lettuce and some of the previous year's viola in there as I could bring myself to throw them away.

The lettuce are an incredible shade of green and I'll make sure to plant many more this year.

I really do like the mini allotment look of the garden. It reminds me of the old fashioned gardens that were pretty common in years gone by. I will be tidying up the new lawn this year and putting some pretty bedding plants into the little bed. The golden privet is coming along a treat and I reckon we'll see it really come into its own this coming year. It's starting to knit together nicely and always looks as though the sun is shining on it.

    1. I think I enjoy the planning almost as much as the sowing and am about to make a start on my year planting plan.
