Well following on from my previous post I decided that there's no time like the present. I've just nipped out into the garden and yanked three large shoots from the sides of the brussels sprouts and pushed them into one of my half water butts which I'm using to root some variegated privet. There's none of this pampering them malarkey with me. It's grow or go in this garden. I don't need the tub until much later in the growing season as I'm planning on putting a courgette or two in there. If the sprouts do in fact grow it will save me a lot of potting on and pampering and I'll create a proper bed for them. I'll update here if there's anything of note... or if they just keel over and die.

Three really good sized cuttings |

I removed the lower leaves and pushed them into the compost |

This is home to the cuttings for now. |
I probably should have taken more of the leaves off and may well do a couple more when the rain stops. I've got nothing to lose.
How interesting Cherie, I didn't know you could do this with Brussels Sprouts! x
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it will work. It's an experiment just to see if it will.
DeleteMmm, interesting. Even if you don’t get sprouts you might get some tasty leaves. Look forward to seeing how you get on
ReplyDeleteWe love sprout leaves so I'm hoping it will work.
