April 16th

It's been so warm and sunny today that I managed to get  loads done outside.  I planted up the gutter garden again. This time it's got a couple of varieties of beetroot which were sent to me by the lovely Lulu over at Long Mizzle blog... Thanks chuck,  you are a star.  Last year I grew golden purslane, Greek basil and spring onions in it with great success and I was in two mind whether to plant more spring onions.  I decided against it as I already have loads of different types of onions in the garden.

I lifted the tub of narcissi onto the bird bath so that I can enjoy the fragrance.  The scent from them and the yellow ones in the border is fabulous. We now have three pairs of blue tits in the different nest boxes and we can watch each box from the comfort of the sofa. Tony's made me another raised planter at the front of the house and we will stand it on the trestle table legs that my neighbour was throwing out.  It's only six inches deep so I will need to take a look at which vegetables don't need much root depth.

  1. Hello Cherie, wasn't it a glorious day yesterday?! Well I can smell those narcissi from here! I too had a good sesh out in the garden. Thanks for the shout out :) My beetroot is hardening off along with some other plants on the picnic bench. How lovely to have all those blue tits in your garden. Great idea for re-using trestle legs xXx p.s.I like the trucking music.

    1. It's been proper gardening weather and if I get it all finished I can spend all summer floating around in swishy dresses and wearing a big sun hat while I drink chilled pineapple cocktails in the garden.... Never had a chilled pineapple cocktail but there's a first time for everything :-) xx
