A week in photos

At the beginning of the week I picked two oddly shaped tomatoes. Tony says they are embarrassed snowmen.  :-)

I usually share my veg gluts with the neighbours but this year I have decided to freeze them.  They will be perfect for pasta sauces through the winter months and I will freeze tubs of them every  few days as they are now coming thick and fast

It's the first time I've grown a Butternut squash and this lovely thing is every bit as big as ones I have bought in the supermarket

The yellow courgettes have been amazing and they are so pretty that I think they deserve a space in the flower border next year.  I want to buy a few little obelisks and dot them through the flower borders to add a splash of edible colour

We paid a visit to Nunnington hall yesterday and the little walled kitchen garden was lovely to walk around. It made me realise that a walled garden doesn't have to be huge

And I finished the week off with a slice of the best carrot cake I have ever eaten.  We sat on a straw bale in the middle of a field of sunflowers  near Helmsley. It was the perfect end to a lovely week
