Lovely fresh veg

Yesterday I wandered along the veggie plot picking fresh green leaves to have with our pie and boiled potatoes. Tony made me smile when he remarked 'It doesn't come any fresher than that'.  It's become our mantra and it must get said at least once each day since I started cropping food from our garden. Himself has a freshly picked green salad every day. Sometimes it goes in a sandwich and other times it gets added to some pasta in a tub with meat or cheese.  His favourite is a prawn and pasta salad but I try to keep that as a treat. Today he has a salmon and salad baguette.. I shredded some fresh picked rainbow chard, a few beetroot leaves, some radishes and lettuce. I also added shop bought, beetroot,  tomato, cucumber and celery. I like to feed my man properly. :-) Hopefully next year I will be able to grow enough tomatoes to last well into the new year. I started very late in the season this year but have big plans to create further food growing spaces in the garden.
