Labelling disaster.

This year I carefully labelled all the seedlings and was really pleased to think I would know at a glance what each tray contained.  I cut up a yoghurt pot for the markers and used a 'permanent marker' pen but permanent my eye... They have faded in the sun on the windowsill so I am now struggling to identify the blimmin things. I think the only things I can truly identify are the radish, beetroot and tomatoes.  The brassicas all look the same so I will just have to wait until the plants start to grow before I will know what they are. Lesson learned.  I've now bought some proper markers and will use a pencil  next time. All the best gardeners seem to use a pencil on their labels.

  1. Oh no Cherie! I feel your pain; I have an ongoing labeling saga. Even when I do remember to correctly label them, the kids think it's great fun to remove the plastic tabs and use them as 'barbie splinters', 'pickets fences' and 'spades'. The only thing I've had some success with is, is marking the actual pots with a thick gold marker that we use to mark portable electrical kit with at work. Good luck identifying the brassicas! 2. I 'inherited' a walled garden with my job and of the few things that were labelled (all the rest are called 'pot-luck', 'who-knows' and 'we'll have to wait and see') only the pencil written ones are legible while the pen either has faded or when you carefully wipe off the mud, takes the last residual writing with it - sigh .... I feel your pain!

  3. I would love a walled garden.. If ever I win the lottery that would be my dream. Tiny house with a huge garden.
