I had hoped to be able to start hardening some of my plants this next week but I think I will play it safe and keep them in the porch for a good while longer. Officially our last frost date is the second week of May but it's been so cold lately that I will hang on till the end of the month and see how it goes. I've bought some four litre pots and moved the earlier sowing of cucumbers on into them this morning. I have several varieties of chilli and peppers coming along really well and to be honest I didn't expect them all to germinate. I've given away a few but am still swimming in them. I am looking forward to a good crop and intend to dry them to store. My micro tom have flowers on but as it's been so cold I haven't been able to stand the planter outdoors lately so they might not get pollinated just yet. The Dwarf French beans are doing really well and are smothered with baby bean pods and flowers. Now all we need is for the days to get warmer and I'll be able to standthe planter outside during the day.

It's been such a cold spring that nothing seems to be flourishing. Here's a warm summer with overnight rain each time we need it!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember a colder spring but am hoping things start to warm up soon.
DeleteI almost planted my dahlias out yesterday, but then chickened out. I wish I had a porch to obstruct with plants. Then any future guests would just have to climb through the window. Lulu x
ReplyDeleteThankfully we aren't getting any visitors through the front door just lately :-)
