It's the time of year to get out and forage the hedgerows. I've gathered elderberries this morning and once again I've turned them into elderberry syrup. They are powerfully antiviral and we think it's what kept all the nasty bugs at bay last year. I'll be making a fresh batch every year as the elderberries grow all over the place in my neighbourhood. Tomorrow is the turn of rosehip syrup when I go and gather the hips
My lovely friend Marian bought me this beautiful row marker.
I dried and powdered all the tops that I trimmed from the spring onions. They will be a tasty addition to soups and so on through the winter months.

We're off to tea at Alexander's so I've picked a little box of salad and added a sample of the elderberry syrup. If they like it I will make them a good supply.

That elderberry syrup looks like seriously good stuff Cherie! I'd be tempted to keep a hip flask of it with me at all times throughout winter. You have actually reminded me that we had elderberries at the bottom of the garden (that's if the cushie doo's haven't gotten to them). Powdered onion tops - what a brilliant idea. Lulu xXx
